Closet Demolition

Workout:
Yesterday: Rest day. Much needed.

After I posted pics of my closet yesterday, I decided it needed a major overhaul. I've always wanted a beautiful, organized closet, and mine is nowhere near that, despite the amount of organization I do.

So, Operation Closet Overhaul began yesterday.

Over the weekend, I saw a small vanity table and chair at Bed Bath and Beyond, originally $100, on sale for $40, plus I had a 20% off coupon. So I picked it up yesterday morning to put in my closet. I figured I could put jewelry, etc. on it and make it look more like a little sitting area.

And while I was at work, my sweet husband went ahead and removed some shelving in my closet so the table and chair would fit.
(Obviously I have some work to do...)

This is what it looked like before:
(The right side...under all my jewelry and junk).

The only clothes I had hung on that entire wall were my running clothes, so I broke down and folded them up  like a normal person and decided to use actually use the space in my huge dresser that I begged the husband to buy for me.

I've said it before, but I'm so thankful for our separate closets...and separate dressers...and separate bathroom vanities. If we had to share, I'm sure husband wouldn't be near as open to me making it all girly.

I want to find a cute rug for my closet, a chandelier and possibly a mirror to go above the table. I also want to get rid of the jewelry rack I have and get a small jewelry box to put on the table. And once everything is kind of situated, I want to paint it a fun color.

Obviously I don't have near this amount of space to work with, but here are a couple of inspiration photos:

Eventually, I really want to get wood shelving. That will probably take some time.

And to find a chandelier. I found the one in our bathroom for $25 at an outlet home store (which is now closed), so I'm hoping I can find a good deal somewhere. Any ideas?

Let the redecorating begin.

PS Thanks for all the recommendations for my boots yesterday. I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before, but I put my stockpile of old Runner's World magazines to use, and it works like a charm!

The other option for keeping boots up is to use part of a pool noodle.

The vanity is such a great addition! I think a chandelier in the closet is an amazing idea, I can't wait to see the finished product.

I love a good closet. The houses the hubs and I are looking to move into have 200sq closets...he's just as glam as I am and we can't wait to make a beautiful dressing room!
