Thanks to everyone for the prayers/support/e-mails/texts/etc after my post last week. My doctor's appointment went as well as I could have hoped it would go.
Basically, she has no idea why I'm not pregnant. Honestly, she seemed a bit shocked that I wasn't. She said, "Why didn't you come in sooner?" Um, well, I called your office and talked to a nurse in September/October, and she told me to keep trying for a few months. That's why.
Anyway, we're trying a few different things. I'm going in for some tests and blood work soon as well as getting a special kind of x-ray (don't ask me what it's called), and the husband is going to have a test done. We'll see what the verdict is and go from there.
I asked her about running and trying to get pregnant (which I also asked her about last year). She's a runner as well and said she ran up until she was 30 weeks. Last year, she said just keep doing what I was doing. If I was just getting into running, that would be one thing, but she said my body should be accustomed to the exercise and it shouldn't really matter with trying to get pregnant. Well, this year, she said to keep running but not to do anything "really long like 10-12 miles." Oops. That isn't even long to me anymore. So, I'll be scaling back. And not doing any kind of intense workouts. And we'll see how that goes.

I've had the x-ray and the blood tests. They are very insightful if there is a blockage or hormone inbalance. I will say though, ask about taking some advil/tylenol/whatever you use for pain relief before you get the xray. It does hurt more than it probably should. When I had it done the nurse was like "you took some advil right?" and I was "um, nobody told me that." So ask about the pain relief when you make that appointment and follow their recommendations.
I wish you the best!
Getting the HSG (the special xray) and the other tests are super informative. As the previous commenter said, take some advil prior to the test since it can be a little uncomfortable. It wasn't too bad for me, just some extra pressure and was done in 10-15 minutes! I also got my results on the spot so that was so helpful.
We'll keep praying for you and hope the tests go by quickly!
Thinking of you!
Hugs prayers and well wishes sent your way!
I'm glad you're getting closer to finding the answer. I guess doing a half is out of our options for this spring, but hey, we can always just do a 5k?! Any excuse to hang out. I wish we lived closer to each other... MISS YOU!
I hope these tests help give you some more answers and if there is anything that is preventing you from getting pregnant that it's a quick and easy fix. Sounds like you have a good doctor.
So stressful!! And that doesn't help anything :( So I am thinking of you my friend. Sending thoughts and prayers your way and I am sure they will figure it out and you'll be knocked up in no time ;) Positive thinking does wonders right?! xo
I've had almost every test imaginable including the HSG. I do agree with the people saying to take an Advil before you go. I was so nervous but it really wasn't too bad. Any pain was over very quickly and it was a fast test.
Good luck!
praying for you!
I'm glad that you are going to get more tests run so hopefully you can get answers. Thinking of you!
So sorry you're having to go through this. We've been struggling with infertility since we got married in 2005 and are currently going through treatments to try to get pregnant with our second child. To offer a bit of encouragement, for a lot of women the HSG can clear out any blockages there might be and that could be the only issue. Male factor infertility is also treatable-that's our issue and, although IUIs, IVF, and infertility treatments are no fun, it's all worth it in the end. Good luck!
Yes, the HSG xray doesn't feel good at all.
Hang in there. We tried for 2-years did 3inseminations, 1 IVF and were gearing up for another IVF and during our 3-month break we got pregnant on our own.
The good news is that lots of women claim that the HSG helps "prime" your body to get pregnant...it's not comfortable, but I personally didn't find it terrible. I know you will feel so much better once you've got some answers!
Praying for you. Let me know if you have any questions about those tests. Been there. Done that.
Thinking of you.
