Happy New Year!
We just returned from a long, whirlwind of a trip to
Denver/Wyoming for Christmas.
Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?
We arrived in Denver December 22 as did my sister-in-law,
brother-in-law and nephew. My husband’s parents drove in from Wyoming and
picked us all up at the airport. We headed to a house the family was renting
for the weekend and had a low key night visiting with everyone. Then Sunday we
headed to the Broncos game. You can read more about that here.
Monday, we piled in the van and headed to Wyoming. About 11
hours later, and after watching temperatures drop to 2 degrees with a -15 degree
windchill (freezing!), we arrived at my in-laws where we spent the next several
days.
Christmas was fun with my husband’s family, but admittedly,
I was very homesick. It was the first year I didn’t spend Christmas with my
parents (we alternate Christmases between families, but two years ago when we
spent Christmas with my husband’s family, my parents went with us!), so that
was hard for me. Hanging out with my sweet nephew did help the homesickness, though :)
How cute is this guy in my running shoes?!
The Friday after Christmas, my sister-in-law, brother-in-law
and husband headed toward Yellowstone to Sleeping Giant, and I went snow skiing for the very first
time!
It's so beautiful there.
I was bundled up like the Michelin man. I found those pink kid's ski pants for a whopping $20 at Sierra Trading Post and they were perfect for skiing...with my thermal running tights on under them of course.
My brother-in-law was a great teacher. We hit the practice/bunny slope
for two runs, and then he said we were ready for the real deal. We did one green (beginner) slope, then headed to a blue (intermediate) slope, and I even did a
couple of black (expert) hills!
They all said that they never saw someone take
to skiing so easily, and I made them all swear they weren’t just trying to make
me feel good about my experience. I honestly wonder if all my running helped
since my legs are super strong. Who knows. But next time, I’ll be ready to go
pro J
Saturday, my father-in-law drove my husband and me to
Casper, Wyoming where we met up with a friend for a bit before picking up a
rental car and heading back to Denver.
We got to Denver, settled in and then went to Cherry Creek
mall, where miraculously I didn't buy anything…but my husband ended up ordering
a Louis Vuitton wallet for me after we picked out the style I liked in the
store. I technically bought the signed Elway football for him last weekend, so
it was a little payback gift J
Saturday night, we had dinner at Cherry Creek Grill with our
friend and his girlfriend, which, in my opinion had great food but was
overpriced.
And Sunday we had brunch at the Berkshire with Bailey and our friends before heading back to another Broncos game.
Cutest pregnant lady ever!
And yes…I fell victim to the silent auction once again. We went home with two more pieces of memorabilia for the Broncos Room. Oops.
Yes, I have a Broncos purse, Broncos bracelet, Broncos scarf...among other things :)
Husband and his BFF.
I look exhausted!
Monday morning, we woke up super early and headed to the
airport to make our way back to Memphis.
All in all, a great trip. But I’m glad to be home with the
dogs and in my own bed. New Year's post/recap coming soon :)

What a great trip! I love all of the Broncos gear. We spent Christmas with the in-laws this year, and it is hard to be away from your family at Christmas time. I'm glad your little nephew could help. He is so adorable!
Looks like so much fun! I cant wait to go out on the snow one day!! Wishing you a very happy New Year and I cant wait to see what 2013 brings for us both. Many blessings!!! Erica

Looks like you had a wonderful holiday! Hope you have a Happy New Year!
You always look so beautiful, and you and your husband are so cute together!
I totally understand the homesickness! I spent my first Xmas away from my fam this year, too! We did Xmas with my hubby's mom and even though it was to have Xmas with him, it was still really hard...I may have cried 2-3 times...glad you had a good trip otherwise...
looks like fun! i like the shirt you are wearing out to eat. ;)
Looks like you had a great time!!
I'd love to try skiing again, I haven't been since I was young and I hated it then...wonder if I'd like it better since I"m more athletic now.
Happy New Year!!
