Whew! I am worn. out. from my weekend. Let's start with Friday. I went on a terrible 5-mile run that afternoon. I stupidly waited until it was 93 degrees outside and ran on dead legs because I probably ran too much last week. No fun. Horrible run. But the bad ones make us appreciate the good ones, right?
Later Friday night, Mary and I hit up the Peabody Rooftop for the Lululemon yoga event. It was super cool to be up there with TONS of other ladies (and a few guys!) doing yoga at sunset.
The not super cool part was that it was a completely different kind of yoga than what I'm used to. I usually go to slow flow vinyasa classes, and this was some, well, weird kind of yoga. I didn't really get it. Nevertheless, it was fun, and I'm glad we went.
Saturday morning, I helped pace a training group on an 8-mile run (and paced them to negative splits for every mile!). Then, because of my crazy schedule this week, I ran an extra 5 miles to get in 13 total for my weekly long run. It rained for the entire run, but the rain felt amazing. I finished 13 miles in 2:02:12...my PR for a half is 2:04, so I'm definitely feeling more confident going for a sub-2-hour half this fall.
The only downside was the chaffing that occurred during the rain that I didn't notice until I took a shower, and the hot water stung something awful. Ouch. Even my mom was alarmed that it looks pretty bad. :(
But the fun didn't stop there. I did a 5-mile race on Sunday morning. The only other 5-miler I've done was two weeks ago, and it was the morning after I may have had a little too much wine. This time I was little smarter about my activities the night before. But the race was the day after my long run, so I wasn't sure how my legs would feel.
I actually did really well! Improved my time by over 2 minutes, and had it been a 5K, I would have PR'ed!
Stats:
5 miles in 42:30
Age group: 14/60
Overall: 254/986
Splits: 8:24, 8:20, 8:24, 8:22, 8:12
My legs are definitely exhausted, and I'm going to take advantage of my rest day today.
How was your weekend?

Gosh I want to run like you! I'm trying!! :) I just got the Nike running app and it's helping with some motivation to get back out there and run... just 1-2 miles at a time so far, but I gotta' hang in there with the short runs for awhile or I think I'll get burnt out.
Roof-top yoga looks fun!!
Sounds like a busy weekend! I love the idea of rooftop yoga. :)
Way to go! I wish I could have gone to the yoga and done the 5miler.
That yoga looks amazing! I did the Color Run this weekend and had a blast!
My friend Sara and I just started training for a half marathon using Hal Hidgon (on your recommendation!). Do you have any thoughts on diet/nutrition while training?

You are abSolutely killing it with your running! Unfortunately, I'm on a running hiatus, so it's lots of biking for me. I'm so proud of your consistency time and pace!!!
