I ran my 4th half marathon this weekend! It was in a series of road races here in Memphis, and I was already signed up (even though I had been out of town for literally all of the other races), so I decided to do it.
I heard the course was flat and boring, so I was hoping for a PR. Well, he course isn't quite as flat as I was thinking. It had some rolling hills. Nothing terrible, but not totally flat. But it was definitely boring.
I started out faster than I normally do for a longer distance race (about a 9:20 mile), but I was able to maintain it for pretty much the whole race.
Let me say it was WINDY. And the whole way back from the turnaround, I was running right into it. Lovely.
But the (excuse me) really crappy part came at mile 12, when you had to climb a mile-long hill. No, thank you. It was awful.
I pushed myself, knowing that if I maintained my pace, I could PR. And the hubby and the puppy met me at 12.8 and ran until mile 13 with me. That definitely helped me make it to the finish line strong.
And I did!
I came in officially at 2:04:45. With a 9:32 average pace. Beat my previous best half marathon time in Nashville by more than 2 minutes! Super pumped.
Considering the wind and the course, I'm proud of that time. I was hoping to beat 2 hours, but maybe I'll do it next time.

Next weekend I have my 22-mile training run, and then (thank goodness) taper for the marathon begins. Starting to get tired of all the long runs, but I'm feeling a little bit more confidence after this half marathon.

Already said it, but so proud of you! Getting a PR is the best feeling!
I love that the hubs and puppy joined you at the end! Congrats again - You're almost there!
Congratulations! That's such a huge accomplishment. Even though I'm not a runner, I get inspired reading about your races.
Congrats! Love hearing about your races!
P.S. I think you should do a give away with one of those fun fleet feet tech tee's for your "running readers"! :)
Congratulations, Christin!! Way to go!
I feel you on the iPod thing---when I did my first half, my battery was dead and I didn't know until I crossed the start line. I almost cried right there!
